The Fourth of July has always been one of my favorite holidays.
Growing up, I remember making trips to Seneca, Missouri, to watch the fireworks or spending time at my great-aunt and uncle’s ranch nearby. Those are some of the memories that still make me smile. I also remember sparklers, fireworks in the backyard, and the excitement that came with waiting for the sky to light up after dark.
As the years passed, new memories were made. When my kids were little, I always tried to buy as many fireworks as I could afford. Some of my favorite moments weren’t even the big fireworks displays—it was watching their excitement over sparklers, smoke bombs, and those funny little snake fireworks that seemed to grow forever on the sidewalk.
In more recent years, many of our Fourth of July celebrations have been spent camping and watching fireworks over the lake. There is just something special about gathering with family and friends, firing up the grill, sharing a meal, and enjoying a summer evening together.
This year feels especially meaningful as America celebrates 250 years of freedom, opportunity, and resilience. While our country has certainly faced challenges throughout its history, I am grateful for the blessings and freedoms we enjoy today.
Maybe that’s one reason I love being part of American Pride Realty & Auctions. The values of hard work, community, faith, family, and the rural way of life are things that have always been important to me. They remind me of the same traditions and memories that make the Fourth of July so special.
